The first marker of the new "Stuart's Ride" Civil War Trail. This is located at Brook Run in Henrico County.
This year RICHMOND DISCOVERIES, working closely with local governments, historic sites and Virginia Civil War Trails, is coordinating the creation of a new addition to the Virginia Civil War Trail system. The trail, entitled “STUART’S RIDE,” commemorates the daring June 1862 ride of Confederate cavalry leader “Jeb” Stuart and his 1200 troopers around George McClellan’s Union Army thus giving General Robert E. Lee the vital information he needed to conduct his victorious Seven Days Campaign and save Richmond.
The trail will require over a dozen markers, and by the Civil War Sesquicentennial's end in 2015, we would like to have the complete trail marked. You can help! Donate today to help place markers and provide follow-up educational programs that will continue to introduce new generations to this pivotal episode in our nation’s Civil War history.
